July 12 & 13 premiering "Другият сън" by Съпромат & Космотехника

After collaborating with "Съпромат" collective on "Видение" a few years ago, glad to be working with them again this time in alliance with "Космотехника" another Sofia-based creative duo involved in some truly inspiring projects. 

"Другият сън" is a visual performance inspired by Vladimir Poleganov's book of the same name, one of the most fascinating pieces of contemporary Bulgarian literature. I had the absolute pleasure of doing the music and sound for this project that premieres on July 12 & 13 at Toplocentrala, Sofia.

Видение (premiere March 5-6, 2020)

March 5-6 Tsveta Doycheva and Съпромат are premiering "Видение". It's an immersive A/V experience existing somewhere between performance, contemporary dance, digital arts and sound. I had the pleasure to do the music for it. Check event for info and reservations.

Hang In There (contemporary dance, premiere Jan 28)

Excited to be working on the music for HANG IN THERE. Not only is it the debut dance piece of awesome Tsveta Doycheva as a choreographer but it deals with a subject I find very important. Part of the proceeds will be donated to help children and women who are victims of domestic violence.

"Natura MORTA" by Mladen Alexiev

Happening this Saturday (24/11/18) is (hopefully) my last project for this mad year. I'll be providing live sound for Mladen Alexiev's latest performance piece called "Natura MORTA". It premieres at ДНК, Sofia. It's a beautiful and intense story and I'm happy to be a part of it.

A day before the actual premiere a related exhibition will appear at art space Swimming Pool. Don't miss the chance to spend two days with our dying nature.

More sonic affairs this September

Besides playing the first Dayin show for the year on September 18, I'll be joining two pretty nice events with great collab projects. First is the annual НОЩ Пловдив (Night of the Museums and Galleries), which for the past years has become one of the finest traditions in Bulgaria's tiny art life.

On Sept 11 I'll be doing live sound for Austrian artist Fanni Futterknecht's performance 'Меко движение' during Нощ/ Пловдив 2015. Stuff's happening in 'Lotus Hall' all info under #71 in the schedule below or here.

Another thing for the Plovdiv night I've done is create over an hour long soundscapes for the opening of KKIIVV - a very dark and special exhibition by illustrator Ilian Iliev and Kostadin Kolanov (calligraphy). Below is an excerpt:

A week later, on September 17 I'm playing playing Sofia's Da Fest, curated by the Digital Arts programme in Bulgaria's National Academy of Arts, where I've been teaching Sound Art for 2 years now.

TUNNEL by Mytrip & George Chelebiev (2014)

So here's something that I'll be doing during most of my upcoming shows until the end of the year (of course not the collab ones). It's called TUNNEL and is my second collaboration with photographer George Chelebiev for this year. Our debut performance is below. I'll make sure I'll post info about each and every upcoming and exclusive performance of TUNNEL.

For now TUNNEL is going to be only a live thing, I'm not so sure if I'll come up with a constant structure or composed music to stick to when performing this, or release it under the same name. I'm currently more into building a different soundscape every time TUNNEL is performed until I feel no longer inspired by the visual environment, which I'm sure it'll take me quite some time.

However, here's a small excerpt of something I've been layering for the debut performance and of course the concept of this collaboration in its entirety.

Mytrip & George Chelebiev TUNNEL (40 minutes)
live audio & pre-rendered visual environment

TUNNEL is an audio-visual performance series – an exploration and a tense attempt for redefining descent. Achieved through gradual layering of tectonic low frequencies and introvert drones. They co-exist with a minimalist video environment, depicting a slow and monotonous walk spent in deep isolation. Poorly lit corridors lead to organic or man-made tunnels. 

Space is barely sufficient to fit one’s own physical shell. Cease expecting the TUNNEL to lead out, but strive to dig deeper instead. Reaching further depths, both in the environment and in your insides, where light is born no matter if your senses are all drowned in black.

Pretty soon after I collaborated with Iskra Ivanova on her video art piece 'Corpus', already presented in detail here, we are again knee deep in a new common project, this time with the visual artist Neno Belchev aboard. This brand new collaboration, named '[UN]Limited Edition', will bring me for a first time in the field of contemporary dance. In 2012 I took part as a part of a live sound session for a performance of a similar type called "Хлябът на живота". However, back then me, |14| and Teeth of Divine basically played live ambient/drone/noise improvisation set during the performance, which we hadn't seen beforehand. 

This time the process is far more organized as this project is actually Iskra's first artist residency at the awesome Derida Dance Center in Sofia. So far I can't really disclose any details about the music, but I'll surely post some snippets as soon as I structure all that's in my head.

It's premiere for Sofia is scheduled for 27/09 at Derida Dance Center and the performance will start at 21:30. The performance will be shown in Varna on the next day - 28/09 at contemporary space.
